Avalanche Card Debuts: Spend Crypto Like Cash with Visa’s Reach

The Avalanche Foundation has teamed up with Rain to unveil the Avalanche Card, a slick new way to spend crypto wherever Visa’s accepted.

Announced in a release shared with crypto.news, this physical-and-digital card lets users tap into USD Coin, Tether Wrapped AVAX, and AVAX for everyday buys—no complicated conversions needed. It’s a practical fix, especially for folks in places where banking’s spotty, making crypto as easy to use as cash.

John Wu, President of Ava Labs, put it simply: “We want cryptocurrency to feel as familiar as swiping a credit card.” That’s the vibe they’re going for—bridging the gap between digital wallets and daily life.

Visa’s no stranger to the crypto game. Last November, Crypto.com rolled out its own Visa-linked card in Latin America, letting users preload funds from crypto wallets or fiat via their app. That one comes with perks like up to 8% cash back, service rebates, and airport lounge access across seven reward tiers.

The Avalanche Card follows a similar playbook, leaning on Visa’s massive network to offer a secure, user-friendly payment option that ties into Avalanche’s push for decentralized finance.

Kicking off in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the Avalanche Card isn’t just a gimmick—it’s a bid to pull crypto into the mainstream, one swipe at a time.
